If you’ve ever watched one of our videos and wondered, “How do they afford to travel so much?”—you’re definitely not alone.
It’s the question we get asked more than anything else.
People often assume we’re wealthy or spend a fortune on vacations.
The truth?
We’re a normal middle-class family with two boys, busy sports schedules, everyday bills, and a love for travel.
We simply learned a different way to make travel more affordable.
It Didn’t Always Look Like This
A few years ago, traveling to places like Italy or Costa Rica felt completely out of reach.
When we priced flights for a family of four, we’d usually decide it just wasn’t possible.
Then we started learning about travel rewards, and everything changed.
So, How Do We Do It?
Our family earns travel rewards through credit card rewards programs and loyalty programs.
We use credit cards for purchases we were already planning to make, and we pay our balances in full every month.
Over time, we’ve earned rewards that we’ve redeemed toward flights and hotel stays, making many of our vacations much more affordable.
It’s important to know that this approach isn’t right for everyone. Responsible credit use always comes first.
We Still Pay for Travel
One of the biggest misconceptions is that our trips are completely free.
They’re not.
We still pay for things like:
* Taxes and fees on flights
* Food
* Excursions
* Transportation
* Souvenirs
Travel rewards have simply helped us lower two of our biggest travel expenses: flights and hotels.
What We’ve Been Able to Experience using travel rewards has helped our family visit places we once thought were out of reach, including:
* The Bahamas
* London
* Rome
* Venice
The memories we’ve made—watching monkeys outside our hotel in Costa Rica, making pasta in Italy, and exploring the Colosseum together—are worth far more to us than collecting more things.
