Earns well on two huge family spending categories: groceries + dining
Earn 4X Membership Rewards® points at restaurants worldwide (plus takeout and delivery in the U.S., on up to $50,000 per calendar year, then 1X)
Earn 4X Membership Rewards® points at U.S. supermarkets on up to $25,000 per calendar year, then 1X
Earns transferable points, giving you flexibility to use airline and hotel transfer partners when you’re ready to travel
One of my favorite cards for turning expenses we already have every month into future travel
Who I think this card is great for
Someone who spends a decent amount on groceries and dining and wants those everyday expenses working harder toward future travel.
For families especially, those can be two BIG spending categories—which is exactly why I like earning extra points on money we were going to spend anyway.
Keep This in Mind
The American Express® Gold Card has a $325 annual fee.
This card makes the most sense when the rewards and benefits you’ll actually use outweigh the annual fee. I never recommend choosing a card just because it has a big welcome offer.
